There are many things that happen in the world because we bring them on ourselves. Just to give an example… let’s say in the the middle of me doing the Sunday morning service, a police officer enters the church and puts handcuffs on me. Even though they take me away and it may be embarrassing, I know that I have not broken any law, and so I will be absolutely sure that I will be vindicated. But if I robbed a convenient store the night before and an officer enters the church and arrests me, it’s not a persecution, it’s not injustice, it’s my fault. And I can’t get mad at God or anyone else for that matter, because I brought it on myself.

A similar event happened in the past, and the Bible makes it clear who’s fault it was. The people of Israel were suffering oppression. They were being robbed and belittled and were extremely discouraged and frustrated. Yet the reason all of it was happening was very clear. Just look at the scripture below;

“Then the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the Lord. So the Lord delivered them into the hand of Midian for seven years,”

(Judges 6:1)

They were being oppressed by Midian for SEVEN years. Of course it was hard and they suffered a lot. But the reason for the suffering was their own disobedience. They were down because they had turned away from God. They were doing evil in the sight of God.

That evil today is lying, gossiping, holding grudges, sleeping around, cheating, and anything else that is wrong before God. As long as a person practices what is wrong they will bring problems upon themself. And no else is to blame.

Now, the question you need to ask yourself is, “what problems have I brought on myself?” I’m not talking about the problems that came as an attack from the enemy and you had nothing to do with it. Those are not self inflicted. But there are problems that us humans create and need to be humble enough to admit to, and fix. Those you can already change and the supernatural problems, God will help you solve. Do your part and He will do His.

May the God of the Bible bless you
