Often when choosing a soccer team many things are taken into consideration: firstly, the talent of each soon-to-be team member. Scoring history is taken into consideration, overall accomplishments, etc.
After all, the coach is looking for someone to add to his team not to take from his team. Hence why, it is such a difficult procedure. They look for the best in everything: health, behavior, character, and so on.
It is so serious that even the contracts outline unacceptable behaviors with the right for the club to drop team members without notice if they display unacceptable behavior. To say the least, it seems like they are looking for perfection. Due to these high standards, some people don’t even attempt to apply.
It is so interesting how human beings like to set such high standards when we all know none of us are perfect. This need for perfection keeps many people from reaching their full potential. On the other hand, it is understandable because only the God of the Bible can change situations like this: people feeling like nothing because of childhood traumas and name-calling. Have you experienced such things? Don’t allow those words to keep you down; trade them for the Word of God.
But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty; and the base things of the world and the things which are despised God has chosen, and the things which are not, to bring to nothing the things that are. (1 Corinthians 1:26 -28)
