How do you measure a level of achievement? Some get gold medals, others receive awards, diplomas, or even a pat on the back. Reaching accomplishments can be great. Having awards and medals can feel wonderful, but what is the greatest achievement of them all?
Many would say a good life, a high-paying job, a collection of material possessions. To each is his own idea of achievement, but there is one thing that each and every one of us must fight to achieve…
“… Let not the wise boast of their wisdom
or the strong boast of their strength
or the rich boast of their riches,
but let the one who boasts boast about this:
that they have the understanding to know me,”
Jeremiah 9:23-24
While having all the physical riches this earth can provide is an achievement, it isn’t the greatest achievement. Someday, everything will be left behind; all of the things we have acquired, learned, mastered, and earned will be left behind. We only take one thing to eternity: our soul.
Yes, strive for the best. Accomplish greatness. Travel well and live comfortably in the life that you have. Let your life be a testimony of your faith. However, do not forget that there is one goal that should be solid: to know the Lord Jesus and attain salvation.
May the God of the Bible bless you!
