I want to speak specifically to the drivers right now. Let’s say you have been driving on a highway for some years already, going to your job day in and day out. I am sure that the very first day you used your GPS or a map to find your way. I am also sure that after some weeks you begun driving the route by routine, and sooner than later you begun to drive by memory… am I correct?
This works in many life situations, but the secret of faith is pretty much the opposite, you can’t live a routine faith and expect to get great results.
Look at the definition of Faith.
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. For by it the elders obtained a good testimony.
(Hebrews 11:1-2)
There is a secret to faith… Never do the same things again and again. If you get used to faith it’s no longer faith, but becomes a routine.
In life we need to do new things, even the muscles of the body; if you do not exercise, if you do not do a different movement you can end up with a health problem. You will start losing the muscles of your body.
Spiritually speaking it’s the same if you do not push yourself to do different things your faith will be extinguished day by day, until it is quenched.
That’s the reason why we have many backsliders. Because their spiritual life became a routine.
This same thing happens to people in churches, when they first start out, they do everything by the book (the Word of God). But after some time they get used to the spiritual things and end up in Spiritual Routine mode.
Do not get used to the things of God. Faith must not be played with, it must be lived in a practical way.
May the God of the Bible bless you.
