One of the most severe problems facing the world is hunger. Many people have absolutely nothing to eat, and the hunger pangs reach deep into the being of those who don’t have the basics. Unfortunately, this is the reality of humanity that faces a daily battle for a piece of bread to feed and satisfy hunger.

However, there are two types of hunger: physical and spiritual. If physical hunger hurts the body, spiritual hunger hurts the soul. Unlike physical hunger, which affects the less fortunate, spiritual hunger can affect anyone regardless of social class. Spiritual hunger can cause depression, insomnia, sadness, fear, panic attacks, anxiety, and loneliness.

The body needs food to continue carrying out the physical process that leads to life. Our soul needs the spiritual food that is the word of God.

Indeed, if you pass by a person on the street who seems hungry, and that person asks you for something to eat, you would not refuse. You would promptly give according to your condition. God does the same. He is the Almighty; He alone can give you the food that will satisfy the hunger of your soul. Just decide to do like the prophet Jeremiah:

“Your words were found, and I ate them, And Your word was to me the joy and rejoicing of my heart; For I am called by Your name, O LORD God of hosts.” Jeremiah 15:16

While our physical body is subject to hunger, thirst, sleep, and fatigue, our soul needs the word of God.

If, when reading this text, you realize that you have been hungry for the word of God, follow these three tips below:

  1. Seek God with all your heart through the daily reading of the Bible. Make this habit your daily bread.
  2. Draw closer to God through prayer. In times of need, He will be ready to help you.
  3. It is not enough to want. It is necessary to hunger and thirst for the word of God.

May the God of the Bible bless you!
