Today around 2:30 in the morning, I woke up to pray (as we say, “at dawn the line is shorter”). And I thanked God that I had opened my eyes once more. We know that the opening of our eyes is a sure sign that we are alive. When a child is born, in addition to crying, they open their eyes for the first time. If that doesn’t happen, then they were stillborn. One day, 59, 60, 20, 30, 80, 45 years ago, you opened your eyes for the first time and today it was repeated once more. Have you ever thanked God for that?

Unfortunately, what we have seen is that many have not thanked God for one more day of life, for one more opportunity to make their lives different and better, despite all the struggles.

Let’s look at Job’s case:

After this Job opened his mouth and cursed the day of his birth. And Job spoke, and said: May the day perish on which I was born, and the night in which it was said, A male child is conceived.’ (Job 3:1-3 – NKJV)

He (Job) cursed the day of his birth because of so much suffering and because he had lost everything. We don’t see him cursing the day of his birth when all was well with his health, family and finances. At the first sign of adversity, he cursed the day he was born.

And many do the exact same thing. If they have a job, if they wake up healthy, if they have food to eat, if the family and everything else is doing well, they don’t thank God. But if they lose their job, wake up sick, or lose a loved one, they will surely blame God.

Don’t be like that; thank God for today, for opening your eyes once more and for all that He has done in your life. For as the Lord Jesus himself said:

“…without me you can do nothing.” (John 15:5 – NKJV)

May the God of the Bible bless you all.
