Imagine seeing a group of people looking  up into the sky and when you try to inquire what is going on and ask one of them why they are looking up, you get this answer; “I don’t know I saw everyone else was looking up, so I decided to look up as well.” You could say, that person was just going with the flow.

Another example is someone driving on the highway and they get stopped by the highway patrol because they were speeding, and they say “officer, I didn’t realize the speed I was going, because I was just going with the flow of the other cars.” Of course, it will not save them from getting a ticket. Because it was there fault that they decided to go with the flow.

When it comes to your spiritual life, you shouldn’t go with the flow either. You can’t just do what everybody does. You are not everybody! And honestly, the flow usually goes to hell.

There is no “welcome to the club” if you are in the Kingdom of God. In God’s Kingdom you are in a different world, you are in the presence of God, you are different. If you want to please the crowd you will displease God.

Many times in order to please God you will have to displease your family, friends, your boss, in-laws, or anyone else who is doing something that you know is wrong.

Look at the great example of these three young men, who did not accept to go with the flow. When you have the time I encourage you to read the entire chapter.

Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego answered and said to the king, “O Nebuchadnezzar, we have no need to answer you in this matter. If that is the case, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and He will deliver us from your hand, O king. But if not, let it be known to you, O king, that we do not serve your gods, nor will we worship the gold image which you have set up.”

(Daniel 3:16-18)

They were facing death and still refused to go with the flow. A person who knows who they are before God has a righteous anger against what’s wrong and is willing to stand up in faith against evil and injustice. God gives His people a Spirit of strength so that instead of giving in, they make a difference.

May the God of the Bible bless you.
