These days people are addicted to their devices. It seems like every second a person needs to check their text messages, Facebook messages, Instagram, Twitter, email and every other source of online or social activity. People stay with their devices glued to their faces.
The problem is not the device itself, but how much love and loyalty a person shows to it and to what they are searching or following on it. When you are overly involved with information or entertainment online, you can become distracted from the things that matter most. Things like God, family, career, etc.
It’s written in the Book of Matthew,
“No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other.”
(Matthew 6:24)
You can not serve two masters. It is impossible! If God is your master then you have to be loyal and committed to Him. He should get more of your time, energy and mind space than anything or anyone else in the world. But if you are always hooked on things that the world offers, for sure those things will become your master. And even if you refuse to admit that they are mastering you, the results in your life will show it, because every other area of your life will begin to suffer. Especially your spiritual life.
Sometimes you need to completely separate yourself from distractions for a while and focus completely on building and strengthening your faith. And you should always prioritize your faith over everything else in the world.
When God asks for your attention, give it to Him. Put things like reading Gods word, quality prayer life, and going to Gods house to learn more about His will, as your most important activities. The rest He will make sure fit into your life, without taking away from it.
May the God of the Bible bless you
