You cannot carry something new with an old mindset.
If you keep holding on to the old life, old friendships, old relationships, and old ways, you will never fully experience the newness of life God has for you.
God may be doing something new in your life, but if you remain attached to the old, you will not be able to preserve what He is pouring into you.
“Nor do they put new wine into old wineskins, or else the wineskins break, the wine is spilled, and the wineskins are ruined. But they put new wine into new wineskins, and both are preserved.” (Matthew 9:17)
New wine requires new wineskins.
Sometimes, refusing to let go of the old is the reason why you cannot receive the new.
Don’t ask God for new wine while insisting on keeping the old wineskin.
