No one likes to lose a match.
No one likes to lose a race.
No one likes to lose a competition.
So, what do people normally do before a competition or match? They practice! If it’s running, they run a couple of miles a day to build up endurance. If it is cycling, they ride a couple of miles a day before the big event. We can all agree that no matter the sport, no one likes to lose, and to win we must step up our game!
It’s pretty much the same with a war; no one goes to war without first studying the enemy. Everyone is aware of the physical wars in this world but there is a bigger war going on that many are unaware of: The Spirit vs. the flesh.
“For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another.” (Galatians 5:17)
We can say it’s a competition between the flesh and the Spirit and the stronger one will always win! Just like the usual outcome of any competition. The strongest opponent always wins.
The only guarantee of the Spirit winning this competition depends on each of us. The one that we feed the most will inevitably come out the champion, the winner!
Now it is time to reason, which one has been winning this war in your life; the flesh or the Spirit?
If you were sincere and answered, “the flesh,” now it is time to trade sides. Stop feeding the flesh (the desires) and start feeding the Spirit (the will of God). Don’t overwhelm yourself, take it one day at a time.
Today is the 13th day of the Fast of Daniel; you can join this purpose today. Make a vow that you will feed the Spirit, and start doing things that will guarantee the Spirit being stronger in your life. Read the Bible daily, pray, and cut off everything that pulls you away from the Lord: friendships, places, things, and actions. Take a stand today, and be on the winning team, team Spirit!
May the God of the Bible bless you,
