“Then he became very thirsty; so he cried out to the LORD and said, ‘You have given this great deliverance by the hand of Your servant; and now shall I die of thirst and fall into the hand of the uncircumcised?’ So God split the hollow place that is in Lehi, and water came out, and he drank; and his spirit returned, and he revived.”
(Judges 15:18,19)
Samson knew he had been used by God to overcome his enemies. After having killed one thousand men all by himself, he was exhausted and thirsty to the point of thinking he was going to die. And then, he revolted. After all that had happened, how could he be dying of thirst just to become easy prey for his enemies?
When you are weak or in need, remember what has been promised—the promises of strength, life and victory. Samson had the promise that he’d deliver Israel from the Philistines. So how could he fall into their hands? This is why he demanded an answer from God.
Samson’s revolt was a result of his faith. He used his intelligence. It didn’t make sense to have killed thousands and then faint from thirst and be caught by his enemies. If he had been meant to die, he wouldn’t have needed to be rescued! Use your head. If you were meant to be defeated, God wouldn’t have rescued you.
Because Samson manifested his faith, God did the impossible. He brought forth water in the desert just to quench the thirst of his servant who cried out to Him. This is our God. If necessary, He’ll make water come out of a rock. If necessary, He’ll send fire down from heaven. If necessary, He’ll stop the rotation of the Earth without disturbing its natural balance. The key to solving your problems is in your hands.
Don’t be afraid to demand the fulfilment of His promises.
