The tree is up, the presents are out, and the meal is prepared. As everyone sits around with smiles and joy, it may seem almost perfect. Holidays are the time of year when families attempt to put their differences aside to be with each other, and it feels amazing. However, as we all know, feelings can fade quite quickly.
Rather than a few peaceful days at the end of the year, wouldn’t it be great to have everlasting peace that lasts year-round, 365 days a year? This kind of peace doesn’t rely on who is around you or what type of celebration you are in. It’s the peace that doesn’t leave when the new year arrives with the same old problems, a peace that allows you to sleep well at night that extends to your loved ones because they can see what is within you.
That is the peace the presence of God brings. Many people will celebrate this holiday, but the true celebration happens when Jesus enters a person’s life. So, just for a moment, put the celebration aside and think about the meaning of true peace.
Many usually equate the holiday with the birth of our Lord Jesus. The Lord Jesus lives until today. He can be born inside of you right now. Look at this excerpt from the story of His birth:
“And the angel answered and said to her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you; therefore, also, that Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God.” Luke 1:35
The promise of Jesus’ birth also came with the promise of His Spirit. Mary was not in an easy situation, but Jesus lived literally and spiritually inside her. Because of this, she had everything she needed to overcome. He is available for you as well. He wants to live within you. When the Holy Spirit comes upon you, that is when the celebration begins.
May the God of the Bible bless you!
