Have you ever been over to a friend or family members house and when you first stepped into the door they asked you to take your shoes off? It has happened to me many times. People say to take the shoes off at the door because they don’t want the filthiness of outside inside of their house.

Spiritually speaking it is the same. God does not accept for us to bring the filthiness of the world into His presence. Even when Moses climbed Mt Sinai to see the burning bush, God spoke to him and told him,

“Do not draw near this place. Take your sandals off your feet, for the place where you stand is holy ground.”Exodus 3:5

In other words, God was telling him to take off his old life. Moses had come from Egypt and from the desert. And God did not want him to draw near in the same way he had been. He had to be willing to let go of his past.

You also must remove the shoes from your feet, spiritually. Remove your dirty ways, the lies, gossip, sleeping around, grudges, violent temper, unclean thoughts, and everything else that pollutes your life. To approach God, you have to be willing to change. Without making that change, there is no way to draw near to God.

When Moses removed the sandals from his feet, he was able to draw near to God and the fire from the burning bush entered inside of him.

God is ready to do the same with you.

May the God of the Bible bless you
