Many families have been destroyed, couples getting divorced, the relationship between parents and children failing, due to social media.

The question is, where was social media 15-20yrs ago? Facebook was created 14yrs ago, YouTube 13yrs ago, Instagram 8yrs ago. However, from time to time, more apps, social media, and internet tools will be created.

The problem is that these media outlets are affecting the relationships between human beings because they are replacing the natural interaction with real people. Some people even say I can not live without my Facebook or YouTube or Instagram account, etc. Nowadays almost everybody has a social media account. Here in the U.S., almost 80% of the population has a social media account.

But the point is, 15yrs ago, the world did not depend on social media to survive. And if you analyze the relationship of human beings before social media… it was better. You saw parents and their children talking more, husbands and wives spending more quality time together, you saw friends actually talking and not just texting. Nowadays children play on their smartphone or computer and leave the parents and parents are so busy on social media that they forget about their children. At breakfast, lunch and dinner people are on social media.

The Lord Jesus once said:

‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’ Matthew 4:4

We are not against social media. We are using the internet right now to reach you through this message. But we want you to know that the social media tools were created to be controlled by you and not vice versa. The Lord Jesus did not say, “stop eating bread”, He said you should not live by bread ALONE. But by every Word that proceeds from God’s mouth. So you must live by the Word of God. Before “bread” there was the Word, and the Word is God Himself. So do not allow social media to replace the natural human relationship. Use them, but do not allow them to control you.

May the God of the Bible Bless All of You,
