John Doe lived in South Place for fifty-five years, but what happened that day surprised his neighbors!

No one thought they had a killer living next door to them until they saw News Reporters flooding their community! Reporters asked the typical questions: How was John Doe? Did you notice anything strange about him?

The answers are always the same: NO! He seemed like such a nice person; on my morning walk, he would say hello. In the winter times, he would ask my kids to shovel his snow; I can’t believe this: I heard that he killed someone!

Looking at John Doe today, of course, you wouldn’t think he was a killer! John Doe is now a grandfather of three and is seventy-five years old! This murder happened when he was twenty years old and living in another State. He fled that State, hoping to forget about his youthful mistakes, only to find out that his accomplice confessed the entire story on his deathbed. John Doe had a skeleton in his closet all these years, and it finally caught up with him!

When they arrested him and asked how he felt? Everyone was shocked at his reply! He said I am finally FREE! What? Free He is going to prison for a crime he committed years ago, and he felt FREE? This doesn’t make any sense! Many would say this because they don’t understand the burden of a skeleton in the closet.

Can you imagine how many decades he lived looking over his shoulders whenever he heard sirens? That must have been a heavy burden.

What is the Skelton in your closet? How much longer will you carry this burden? How light you would be if you confessed it all? First, to the God of the Bible (of course, He sees and knows all things).

He reveals deep and secret things; He knows what is in the darkness, And light dwells with Him. (Daniel 2:22)

Your confession will have to be accompanied by repentance. If you need to take it to the next level and notify the authorities, that’s your decision. The reality is that many years later, they may come knocking at your door!

You can run from it, but you cannot hide from it! What better way to start the new year than by emptying the closet? Experience what it means to have your burdens lifted! Maybe it’s not a murder confession, but you know what is in your closet!

May the God of the Bible bless you!
