Back in the day, a simple word was a binding contract. It could be used to promise marriage or sell land or property. Important deals and agreements were made with just a word. One word can hold so much power. We believe the words of those who hold an important place in our lives. As children, we believed the word of our parents, no matter how far-fetched they may have been. We believe the word of doctors because of the years they have studied, and we believe the promises made by friends and family because we find them trustworthy.

We are all held by our word.

“So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void,” Isaiah 55:11

Have you ever been disappointed by someone’s words? Perhaps a broken promise or even a lie. It’s a terrible feeling. Or perhaps you have even broken your word to someone. It isn’t uncommon. But for the important things, a word means a lot. Imagine being lied to by a spouse or receiving the wrong diagnosis from a doctor. Those words mean a lot to us; when a vital word fails, it hurts deeply.

The Bible holds the word. The Word of God is filled with promises. The difference between the Word of God and the word of people is that it never fails for those who believe in It. Those who believe in the word of God experience the promises of peace, healing, restoration, and abundant life because, as the Word says, “God is not a man, that He should lie…” Numbers 23:19

With one Word, your entire life could change if you believe.

May the God of the Bible bless you!
