Sheep are taken care of all their lives. They are fully dependent on their shepherd. They depend on their shepherd to feed them, lead them to water, protect them, and guide them. Without that shepherd, the sheep would be lost and vulnerable to danger.
Without our Shepherd, we also live a similar experience. Just as the Shepherd seeks for his lost sheep, the Lord Jesus also seeks for those who are far away from Him.
“What man of you, having a hundred sheep, if he has lost one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the open country, and go after the one that is lost, until he finds it? And when he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders, rejoicing. And when he comes home, he calls together his friends and his neighbors, saying to them, ‘Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep that was lost.’ Just so, I tell you, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who need no repentance.” (Luke 15:4-7)
Perhaps you can relate to this lost sheep. Maybe one day you found yourself far away from the presence of God. It happened little by little and today you find yourself lost, hopeless, and wishing to find your Shepherd again. The truth is the Shepherd has never stopped looking for you. Don’t believe the lies of the devil that tell you that you’re too far gone.
If you are this lost sheep or know someone who is, come back to the fold. Don’t wait, your Shepherd is eagerly waiting for you.
May the God of the Bible bless you!
