Our day doesn’t begin when the clock strikes 12. It starts with the little things you begin to do the night before in preparation for your next day. You’ve probably experienced the chaos of not being prepared for the day, so you know the tips and tricks you need in order to have a successful day.
A big part of being prepared for a new day is your sleep. There are those who have the privilege of sleeping in peace. They even describe it as “sleeping like a baby.” However, there are many whose sleep is far from peaceful. They close their eyes and only see terror. They even avoid going to sleep altogether because they fear what will happen when they close their eyes. Perhaps this is you.
Perhaps you are already prepared to stay up throughout the night. You prepare your long list of distractions so that you will only go to sleep when your body is no longer physically capable of staying awake. Your sleep is tormented with nightmares, shadows, paralysis, and fear, and you can’t remember the last night you had a good night’s sleep. Take a look at these verses and remember them before you go to sleep:
“You shall not be afraid of the terror by night, nor of the arrow that flies by day, nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness, Nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday.” (Psalms 91:5-6)
Whatever your terror is, you do not have to fear it anymore. That terror stems from a spiritual problem and can only be handled spiritually. The word of God combats every arrow that evil throws your way. Before you go to sleep, let this verse reassure you that no terror is greater than the power of God.
May the God of the Bible bless you!
