When we talk about envy, we are addressing two types of people: the envious and the envied.

The fact is… the envious do not want to achieve the same things as the envied but want what belongs to someone else. Envy is a bitter feeling against the happiness of others.

Did you know that sometimes those around you can be the ones who envy you the most?

See below the characteristics of an envious person:

1. Feeling uncomfortable with the success of others
2. Feels pleasure when something terrible happens to the person they envy
3. Tries to hurt the ones they envy with negative words and actions
4. Attempts to take credit for the success of others
5. The envious seem to compete all the time

The damage envy causes in the lives of the envied and the envious is destructive. The envious curse themselves because we all know that we reap what you sow.

The Bible speaks clearly about envy when it says,

“A healthy heart is life to the body,
But envy is rottenness to the bones.” Proverbs 14:30

If you are suffering because you envy others and are now reaping curses in your life, or if you are the victim of envy… know that God is the only One who can deliver you from these feelings of envy or protect you from the effects of it.

The Spirit of God does not envy anyone. He is all powerful and yet, at the same time, wants the best for everyone. Learn from Him and seek to receive Him inside of you, and you will no longer envy others nor be afraid of envy.

The Lord Jesus said in Matthew 11,

“…learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart,”

We must all learn from Him. Follow His example, His character, His Spirit… and instead of “rottenness to the bones.” You will find LIFE for your SOUL!

May the God of the Bible bless you,
