When we visit a supermarket to buy groceries, it’s always a good idea to check the expiration date of the products we purchase. After all, who wants the unpleasant surprise of sour milk or stale bread? This simple habit protects us from the unwelcome consequences of consuming something past its prime.

The reality is that everything in this world has a limited lifespan, and sooner or later, it will expire. Even our bodies, which we care about greatly, will eventually pass away. However, there is one thing that will never expire, and that is the word of God.

Contrary to the perishable goods we meticulously inspect for freshness, Isaiah 40:8 says:

“The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God stands forever.”

Everything written in the Bible is absolute truth, and you can trust God’s word with all your heart. You can anchor your life in the word of the Almighty, and it will provide you with the strength and courage you need when you feel down or weak.

The word of God is perfect, and it can guide those who seek to follow it daily. It offers comfort and peace to a troubled soul, helps you strengthen your faith, and teaches us how to live a life that pleases the Lord.

Let the Bible be more than a book on your shelf. Let it be the lamp that lights your way.

May the God of the Bible bless you,

Bishop Bira Joshua
