What do you do when you come into contact with someone who served in the army, marine, or the military?
You honor their service by saying, “Thank you for your service.”
What do you do when someone in your family graduates with honors? You honor them; it could be as simple as a family dinner or as elaborate as a new car!
It is our pleasure to honor those that we love, right? Often, it’s said out of respect. For example, saying, ‘Thank you for your service’ to those who serve in the military. You respect them for giving their life to serve, knowing that they could die while doing this service. What an honor!
Do you show the same love and respect for the One who died on the cross for you? The examples above make transparent the actions that gave that honor.
“And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.” Colossians 3:17
It is easy to show and recognize honor for those around us, but how do you honor the God of the Bible? Have you been honoring Him?
Who do you speak with first when you wake up in the morning?
Do you separate time to read His Word?
Do you separate time to attend church?
Some people might reply, I don’t have time to do these things. Point taken.
Who or what have you been putting first in your life?
You make and keep your doctor’s appointments. You make and keep your appointments at the salon, dentist, or car dealership, to attend a wedding, baby shower, or funeral…
Nothing is wrong with keeping your appointments, but there is something wrong when you don’t make time to take care of your soul.
This message is not to accuse you but to put you on game. Adjust your busy schedule and insert the time with the Lord Jesus first. In doing this, you will give Him the honor He rightly deserves.
May the God of the Bible bless you!
