Many during this time of the year are depressed because they do not have a family. In fact, many others are depressed all year because they don’t have a family. It seems like there is always fights and arguments and a lack of togetherness and unity. They want to have a mom or a father because they don’t have one. Wives want to have a husband because she is married but doesn’t really have a husband. The man is married to a woman, but does not have his wife. How many parents want to have children, because they have a son or a daughter but their child is not there. It seems that they’ve lost them and that they can’t see the child that they raised.

Families can be destroyed because of lies, cheating, addictions and so many other things. The Bible says here in Psalms 128

Your wife shall be like a fruitful vine In the very heart of your house,
Your children like olive plants All around your table. Psalm 128: 3

This verse is speaking about having peace inside of your household. Peace inside of your family. God wants for you to have a family, not just a group of people living together. That’s why after your own salvation you should put all of your strength into fighting for your family.

Go the extra mile to rescue them. Do something that grabs God’s attention, whatever it takes, do it. Like one story that I heard of a father who was preparing a car to give to his son, but the son was on a path to destruction, so the father knew if he gave the son that car, it would be to his ruin. So that father made a challenge with God and sold the car and placed a sacrificial offering on God’s altar. He said the he decided he’d rather give it to God and save his son, rather than give the car to the son and lose him.

That act of faith got God’s attention. And you know what… the son changed completely.

I normally say, “your family is your greatest asset”. And I truly believe in that. If there is anything worth fighting to save, for sure it’s your family. Fight for them on the altar, and God will give you the family you never had.

May the God of the Bible bless you
