Have you had this experience with someone that only remembers you in their time of trouble or their time of need? Once your phone rings and you see that name you already know they are in trouble or they need something from you.

If we are human beings and we recognize such a person, don’t you think that God identifies the same thing. And how do you think He feels about it? Of course, God is merciful and comes to the aid of many who only call upon Him when they need help. But this kind of person will only receive the crumbs (little blessings) and never the bread (the true miracles).

If you put God first, then He will put you first. As it is written,

But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

(Matthew 6:33)

Many only remember God when they are in trouble and fall into the pit. Then they say, “Oh my God help me.” But by then it’s too late. When they were okay, they didn’t remember God.

I advise you to do something different this year. Start making simple changes that will show God that you are putting Him first. For example, first thing in the morning, before doing anything, talk with God through prayer. Take time to read His Word each day (which is the only true way to know Him). Put Him before your spouse, children, job, hobbies and everything else.

I’m not telling you to become religious, but I’m telling you to put “first things first” as they say. Just like in life we all put our priorities first. Make your relationship with God your number one priority. If you are willing to do it, I can guarantee you that you will have a great year and a great life.

And if you need an extra bonus… you will also gain eternal life.

May the God of the Bible bless you
