Submission is such a taboo word nowadays; it is seen as an act of weakness or as suffering. However, think with me: throughout our lives, we are always giving of ourselves (or submitting) to somebody or something. And most of the time, we do it without even thinking about the consequences.

  • You promise your whole life in marriage to another person.
  • You get on a flight – no idea who the pilot is or what his intentions are.
  • You allow yourself to be drugged, put to sleep, and spread out on the operating table so that your body can be cut open
  • You give out personal information online to people you’ve never met.

And the list goes on. You do all these and much more, but when it comes to God, now you want to have reservations?

  • You find it hard to give your life to Someone who promises salvation?
  • You find it hard to let go of bad habits and temporary pleasures in exchange for true fulfillment?
  • You have reservations about trusting Someone who has never failed yet?
  • You prefer to trust your own instincts, which until now have only led to trouble?

Really?

Now you can understand the reason why you may not be getting the most out of your faith and have been going to church for years but only receive small blessings here and there. It’s the law of giving and receiving, just as you are faithful to your spouse and expect fidelity in return. Or, you purchase a product and expect it to work as advertised. God feels the same way. He gives 100 percent of Himself and so expects the same in return from us.

The beauty in God’s giving is that it can’t be compared to ours. We give God a life of problems, mistakes, and negativity, and He accepts it and transforms it, and continues to bless us for all eternity.

So, the next time you feel hesitant in giving God your whole package, think: who has more to offer, you or God?

I’ll let you do the math.

May the God of the Bible bless you.
