How has your Christianity worked out for you so far? I want you to spend perhaps the most important 5 minutes of your life, by honestly assessing yourself against this Christianity checklist. Give yourself a point for each statement you agree with.

  1. You go to church – perhaps you’ve been going for years!
  2. You’ve been baptized in your church
  3. You can recall some beautiful preaching you’ve received
  4. You know the Word exceptionally well
  5. You hold a position in your church

So far so good? Now let’s go to the second part of this checklist.

  1. You are still waiting for ‘that big blessing’ to happen
  2. You sometimes avoid thinking about why nothing is working for you
  3. You’ve questioned ‘when your time will come’
  4. You try to play down your frustration, but it is there
  5. Your friends and family don’t see the point of your faith

How did you score? Are you seeing the pattern here? The first 5 questions are beautiful but the second half are the ones that make reality hit home.
Nowadays, we have many people who claim Christianity and know about the promises of God, but yet they see no sign of these promises in their life; they have not experienced the power of God for themselves and are wondering where they went wrong, or what is missing.

Here’s the bit where your life changes…

“… the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.” 2 Corinthians 3:6

Having all that knowledge and not seeing any returns from it, only makes you a religious person (and we all know how Jesus felt about them!)

What you need to do, is start to demand from God – and from yourself, that these promises become evident in your life. Put your faith to work. God’s Word is beautiful, but it is to be practiced and benefited from.

If you are not reaping the benefits of your faith, be honest about your situation and get help. Those who are religious prefer to remain in denial and therefore, continue to miss out on God’s plenitude. That’s the problem with being all talk and no spirit.

May the God of the Bible bless you
