One of the biggest mistakes people make when drowning is trying to fight their way back to the top. When a person feels alone in the midst of water it’s easy for them to become desperate. They scream and panic and get pulled down even deeper. It isn’t easy to remain calm in that situation, but they forget that there is usually help around corner and quickly lose hope.

Perhaps this has been you lately. You have been surrounded by an ocean of problems and you feel hopeless. You forget that there is help. The problems in your family, sleepless nights, financial difficulties, depression, loneliness, confusion, fights and constant struggling has put you in a panic. Don’t fear, help is at hand.

David also faced problems, but in his moment of desperation, he asked for help.

“Save me, O God! For the waters have come up to my neck.” Psalms 69:1

Is this you? The water is up to your neck. If one more problem comes your way, that’s it! You’ll sink! Ask God for His help. Don’t try to swim to the top on your own. You’ve tried this already and yet the water continues to pull you down. When you ask God for help, He doesn’t just throw you a life raft. He meets you where you are and carries you to safety.

Cry out to Him. Ask Him to save you. He will hear you and He will rescue.

May the God of the Bible bless you,
