I’m sure you can remember very well, hearing the elders say, “stop crying over spilled milk”. Honestly, when they told you that, they were giving you some of the best advice ever.

When God spoke to Joshua at the beginning of their new journey, Joshua was sitting there sad. You could even say, he was slipping into a state of depression. He was sad because Moses was gone, and seemed to be lost on what to do next.

God actually spoke to him very boldly, when He said,

“Moses My servant is dead. Now therefore, arise, go over this Jordan, you and all this people, to the land which I am giving to them-” (Joshua 1:2)

When God saw that he was sad and breaking down because of the death of Moses, He had to wake him up. At that moment, God had to pass on to him a new spirit. God was basically telling him to forget about the past and look forward. He was called to be their leader and needed to step up and lead them.

We are just starting a new year, and God is telling you the same thing. Forget about the past and look forward. You can not change what happened last year, last month, yesterday, nor even one minute ago. But you can change what happens from now on. So look forward and allow God to do NEW things in your life.

God is not a God of old things, He is a God of new things. And this new year and new decade will be filled with new things for those who trust and serve God with all of their life.

May the God of the Bible bless you
