Imagine going out with your closest friend, only to have the day ruined by distraction after distraction. One receives a call from work that seems to go on forever, the other only focuses on the problems that she is going through. What a dreadful day that would turn out to be.

At those times when we need to be the most focused it seems as though that is when the most distractions happen. The same can be said about the times we take to indulge in the Word of God. The Word that gives life, instruction and hope, can slip through your fingers so quickly when distraction gets its way.

It seems that the moment you pick up your Bible or decide to pray, that is when:
⁃ You remember dinner
⁃ Your child cries
⁃ You remember an appointment you have
⁃ You suddenly become sleepy
⁃ Your phone rings
⁃ And the list goes on…

Everything comes at once! When that happens, you need to remember that those are just distractions! Whilst some of them cannot be avoided (like a child crying) you must deal with it and then get right back to your focus on God, knowing that the closer you get to God, the stronger you will become. You will be able to handle all of those things with the strength that comes from Him.

“Now in the morning, having risen a long while before daylight, He went out and departed to a solitary place; and there He prayed.” Mark 1:35

Maybe lately you’ve been feeling weak and you notice that you’ve barely spent any time with God. Find a place and take a moment to receive the strength that comes from the Word of God.

May the God of the Bible bless you,

Bishop Joshua Fonseca
