Would you give a thousand dollars to a five year old child? Of course not. Even if you could afford it, you would not. Why? Because he wouldn’t know what to do with it. He would take it and spend it on candy or toys or something that was not beneficial to you.

We see the same thing happening in the Bible. In Luke 15 we see the parable of the Prodigal Son. The word prodigal itself means wasteful, and that’s exactly what the son was. He wanted to take what his father worked for and established, and go his way. And as surely as he took his inheritance and went his way, it is written;

And not many days after, the younger son gathered all together, journeyed to a far country, and there wasted his possessions with]prodigal living. Luke 15:13

This young man wasted his money with prostitutes, friends, drinking, partying, etc. And ended up with pigs. He literally wanted to eat with the pigs.

Thankfully at his lowest point, he realized that he had left behind a much better life with his father. And this is exactly what happens with many people today. They are like that prodigal son. Perhaps one day they were active in church, used to read the Bible and pray regularly, fast, and maybe even speak to others about Jesus. But along the way they grew cold and backslide. Now they find themselves broken and at rock bottom.

The good news is that God hasn’t given up on you. Just like when that son returned to his father, the father accepted him with open arms. God will also accept you with open arms, if you are willing to turn from the dirty life and give your life to Him. He does not want to judge or condemn you, He wants to save your life and more importantly your soul.

Make the decision today to return to God. It’s like it says in Malachi,

“Return to Me, and I will return to you”. God is ready for you. Are you ready to return?

May the God of the Bible Bless You
