“Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him; do not fret because of him who prospers in his way, because of the man who brings wicked schemes to pass. Cease from anger, and forsake wrath; do not fret – it only causes harm.”

(Psalm 37:7-8)

It’s undoubtedly disturbing to see people doing evil. It’s even more disturbing to see it among those who claim to be of God. Evil has spread so much all over the world that more and more disturbing situations are happening every day.

We can’t accept this. God teaches us to bridle our anger and not bother about evil people who prosper in their way. “Cease from anger, and forsake wrath” can be difficult advice to follow when our blood boils. But if it were impossible, He wouldn’t ask us to do it.

Why would God ask that? Does He want evil to prevail? A thousand times no! He asks us so He can give us justice. When we become angry and impatient with someone who insists on being unjust, our attention ends up being diverted from the real enemy (the evil spirit behind the situation). But when we bridle our anger, we trust that God has a solution for the problem – and He will cause justice to prevail.

Have self-control and trust in God so that He can cause justice to prevail.
