Everyone enjoys purchasing new things. A new car with that “new car” smell. A new home, untouched or lived in by anyone else; the newest gadget. What if, however, one was to bring the old into the new? What do I mean by this? Let me explain…
Imagine bringing all of the trash from your old car into the new one. Moving into a brand-new home with broken, stained and damaged furniture, or buying a new laptop and filling it with viruses.
This is the case of many concerning their own lives. They have brought the old into the things they are trying to make new. Maybe this has been your case. You are trying to become a new person, to build a relationship with God, but are holding onto old friendships or habits that you know are no good for you. The result of this: nothing changes in your life. You still feel empty inside, depressed and even frustrated at not seeing results from your efforts.
This is your solution:
“Therefore My Father loves Me, because I lay down My life that I may take it again. No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down of Myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This command I have received from My Father.” John 10:17-18
Attending a church, knowing the Bible, giving offerings cannot compensate for truly laying down one’s life. Yes, these things are very important and do contribute to your surrender. However, when we give our life to God, it’s a complete package: spiritually, financially, emotionally and even physically. We live each day in a way that pleases Him and are always seeking to change things about ourselves that we know do not please Him. Perhaps you have tried time and time again to change, to find peace, true happiness and just attending a church hasn’t been working. Take it one step further by giving your life to God.
When you give your life to God you will receive the new life that you have dreamed about, because God will give it to you, and nothing or nobody can take it away.
Now that is an exchange worth making!
May the God of the Bible Bless You,
Bishop Joshua Fonseca
