All that glitters is not gold… Have you ever heard this expression before?
If given the option, the majority of people will choose to live the ‘high life.’ People want to have their moment of fame, have their names known by thousands and even millions around the world, go to the most elite outings with other celebrities and famous people – people want to feel important.
The flashy things in life look very appealing to the eye, however, whatever a man conquers without God will not bring him joy. This is the reason why we see so many celebrities and famous people who suffer with anxiety, addictions, depression and even suicidal thoughts. Perhaps you are this person…you pretend to be happy, you even plaster a fake smile on your face, but deep down you are crying inside. Deep down, you know that something is wrong, but you can’t quite put your finger on it.
Honestly, what is the point of having the fame, the attention, the money and possessions – all the while, not being able to do something so simple like having a peaceful night’s rest, because you are suffering from insomnia? What is the point of living the ‘high life’ and keeping up an appearance of happiness in front of strangers, while deep down inside you feel lost, sad and empty?
It is not a problem to conquer great things in life, please do not take me the wrong way. However the problem lies when these ‘conquests’ are conquered without God. Without God’s protection, we are left vulnerable to the enemy’s attacks. The Word of God says,
“I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.”
(John 15:5)
Only when we abide in Him, will we succeed and be truly happy. Stop holding up this appearance. God does not see the outside as we people do. No, He sees deep inside of you. He knows that your soul is thirsty for His Presence. Your life can even have some levels of ‘financial success’ in this world, but without God, you will never truly have inner peace.
May the God of the Bible bless you
