“I love you”…. These 3 simple words express such strong affection. But unfortunately, truth be told, normally this kind of love is emotional. We are used to hearing it in movies, music, TV series, and so forth. But the love that the Bible teaches us has nothing to do with the romantic love we see everywhere nowadays.
Biblically speaking:
There is no love without sacrifice;
There is no love without commitment;
There is no love without justice;
There is no love without fidelity;
There is no love without faith;
There is no love without surrender;
There is no love without the action of giving.
Perhaps you have always given, sacrificed, and surrendered your best. Even though you feel that your parents don’t love you, loved ones abandoned you by going to prison, your children don’t care anymore, and you feel lonely. Your partner left you for someone else, or family members consider you the “black sheep.”
Did you know that Jesus’ love for you is practical and has nothing to do with the love of this world? Jesus wants to give you the best He has:
“But whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.” John 4:14
Jesus loves your soul, and in this love, there is no lack of sacrifice, surrender, compromise, fidelity, or justice. He will not abandon or despise you.
He is willing to transform your life and make you a source that will bless those around you. He wants to give you what is most precious – the salvation of your soul.
But for that, he needs to receive from you the same kind of love that He offers you.
Are you willing to love Jesus as He loves you?
May the God of the Bible bless you,
Bishop Joshua Fonseca
