“Everything could be going well, but I still wanted so desperately to kill myself.”

There is a type of depression that is short term and stress-related. It develops after a traumatic event or series of events. Christopher’s depression was different. He felt low even when everything was going fine. It was so bad that all he wanted to do was to sleep to try and block out those negative feelings.

“It’s almost impossible to describe exactly how depression feels. It literally drains the life out of you. The only thing I wanted to do was to take pills that would make me tired and sleep – just so that I could get a little relief from the way that I was feeling.

It wasn’t a situational depression – for example, “because grandma died”, everything could be going well, but I still wanted so desperately to kill myself.”

Christopher came to the Universal Church and learned that he can be free from depression. He took part in the meetings that tackle issues such as depression and was able to put depression behind him, and start a new life.

“Through faith, God healed me of the depression.

I no longer feel constantly down anymore – especially not feeling down for no reason whatsoever. Now I know that God is in control and I know that whatever happens, I’m going to come out okay because God takes care of His own!”
