“They did not see one another; nor did anyone rise from his place for three days. But all the children of Israel had light in their dwellings.” — Exodus 10:23
When God sent darkness over Egypt, everyone experienced the plague—except His people. Although the Israelites were still living in Egypt and were slaves at the time, their homes were filled with light. God made a clear distinction between those who belonged to Him and those who did not.
As children of God, we should remember that while we live in this world, we are not defined by it. Walking in faith does not mean we will never face challenges, but it does mean we can trust God to lead, protect, and provide for us in ways the world cannot explain. Don’t assume that because others around you are struggling, you must share the same outcome. Even if hardship has been common in your family for generations, God can write a different story for those who walk with Him.
Imagine two people planting the same type of seed. One plants it in the wrong soil and neglects it, while the other plants it in rich soil and faithfully waters it. Even though the seeds are the same, the results will be very different because of what they are connected to. In the same way, God’s children may live in the same world as everyone else, but our lives are rooted in Him.
Walk by faith and remember whose you are. God still makes a distinction between His people and the world.
