Who doesn’t want to hear these words? Especially when they are facing a challenging moment. In mourning, that call or text expresses words of kindness and assurance that you are not alone.

This is very good: To know people are available to support and encourage. But what about when there is no one? No one to comfort you in your days of distress, persecution, and despair?

This is when you must see the other side of this phrase: “You are not alone.” Look at this Bible verse.

We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed; (2 Corinthians 4:8-9)

Did you realize the first word of this sentence? You didn’t? Take a moment and read it again. Did you get it now? It said, “WE.” Now you know you are not alone. Many people are facing the same battles, but not only that—many are also OVERCOMING the same battles! Now reread it in parts:

We are troubled on every side, YET NOT distressed;

We are perplexed, but NOT in despair;

Persecuted, but NOT forsaken; cast down, but NOT destroyed;

You are not alone—you can also overcome these problems. The secret is to have the Holy Spirit living inside of you. These problems will not overcome you because you are stronger on the inside than what is happening on the outside!

Keep this word with you, and let us continue fighting in these 21 Days. To learn more about the Fast of Daniel, visit The Universal Church near you.

You are not alone—You, too, will overcome these problems!

May the God of the Bible bless you,

Bishop Bira Joshua
