Think of your favorite recipe. Think of all the ingredients and flavors. Now, imagine that dish lacking salt. It’s one of those things that are so small compared to the other ingredients but makes a big impact when missing from the equation. This is exactly the life of people who lack God: tasteless.
It can seem like such a harsh comparison. However, think about having a family, health, success, and riches but no peace within your soul. This is life without God. The Bible describes this life:
“Because you say, ‘I am rich, have become wealthy, and have need of nothing’—and do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked—” (Revelation 3:17)
In a day of dire need, when no amount of money or person can provide the help we need, we will see the true state of our lives. Money can fade away, family can fail us, friends can disappear, and jobs come and go. God never fails, leaves, or abandons us. A life with Him is a life that truly lacks nothing. With Him, you will always be secure.
