It was a good idea to invent light bulbs. Today, we don’t need to walk around with torches to find our way.
It was a good idea to invent cars. Today, we don’t need to walk miles on top of miles to reach our destination.
It was a good idea to invent planes. We don’t need too many days to travel to another country. Just a few hours, and we are on another continent!
It is a good idea to change your eating habits if it is compromising your health. It is a good idea to take care of your body.
Some ideas are good, but you also have some bad ideas!
To drive under the influence because you just live down the road is a bad idea because you don’t need a lot of miles to have a fatal accident while driving intoxicated.
It’s not a good idea to go over the speed limit because you are late for your appointment. An accident will delay you much more than if you drove the legal speed limit.
Life is full of decision-making, especially at the end of a year and the beginning of a new year. Each day, we need to make decisions, and we must be conscious that some decisions will have consequences. Look at this example from the Bible:
“And he thought within himself, saying, what shall I do, because I have no room where to bestow my fruits? And he said, this will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods.” (Luke 12:17-18)
This man thought he had a good idea, only to be called a fool.
“But God said to him, ‘Fool! This night your soul will be required of you; then whose will those things be which you have provided?’”
Now is the time to take a long, hard look at your New Year’s resolution, see what things you have prioritized, and ask yourself this question: Is the God of the Bible pleased with it, or will He call you a fool?
(P.S. I’m not calling anyone a fool—I’m just reading the Word of God—Any doubt? Take it up with Him!)
May the God of the Bible bless you!
