“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. For by it the elders obtained a good testimony.” (Hebrews 11:1–2)

Consider something as simple as setting your alarm the night before a workday. You go to bed believing that you will wake up, your job will still be there, your family will be well, and your life will continue to move forward. There’s no guarantee in your hands, no visible proof while you sleep—yet you trust enough to prepare for tomorrow. That’s faith in action.

In the same way, everything we have—whether big or small—has been obtained through faith. The relationships we invest in, the goals we pursue, even the hope that tomorrow can be better than today—all of it begins with believing in something we cannot yet see, as it says in the verse above.

Hebrews reminds us that faith is not just wishful thinking. It is substance. It has weight. It’s the confidence that moves us forward even when we don’t have all the answers. The “elders” mentioned didn’t earn their good testimony through certainty, but through trust in God.

So the next time you find yourself waiting or hoping, remember: you’re not just getting through the day—you’re practicing your faith, believing in what you can not yet see but knowing that God is with you.

May the God of the Bible bless you!
