Throughout our lives, we will hear many words. And honestly speaking, not all of them will be good. There are words that seem to only cut and destroy. For example, the time when that family member called you stupid. Or the time when your wife said that marrying you was the worst mistake she ever made. Or the time when you were called a loser, a failure, incapable, broken, etc.
All of those words had the power to break you down and some even changed the way you saw yourself.
God is very different than us human beings. He will never speak words to destroy you. Because He has no desire to push you away. People speak harsh words to push you away, but God wants to draw you close. His word says,
“let us draw near with a true heart…” Hebrews 10:22
What that means is to be sincere. Be honest with yourself, and don’t wait for other peoples honest words to be what is needed to mold you. We all have a lot to learn, and indeed it helps to have people around us to encourage us and motivate us when we are getting off course.
But the best guide that you can have is the Word of God. His word comforts, instructs, corrects, motivates, and purifies. So if you want to listen to the words that help. They always come from the mouth of God. To hear Him speak to you daily, simply open your Bible and mediate on it. You will hear God speak as clear as crystal.
May the God of the Bible bless you,
