Have you ever seen a house slowly fall apart? It doesn’t happen overnight. A crack in the foundation, a leaking roof, a broken window left unfixed—over time, what was once strong becomes weak and collapses.
The same happens in a person’s life when envy and selfish ambition take root. It doesn’t show up with flashing lights or a loud announcement. No, it comes silently—like a small crack in the heart. A feeling of comparison here, a little jealousy there, an unwillingness to see others succeed. At first, it seems harmless. But with time, it spreads.
“For where envy and self-seeking exist, confusion and every evil thing are there.” (James 3:16)
A life led by comparison and selfish desires is a life of confusion, disorder, and destruction. Many families have been torn apart and friendships destroyed—not because of external attacks but because of what was allowed to grow inside.
Paul fought the good fight and finished his race because he fought against everything that could corrupt his faith (2 Timothy 4:7). If he had allowed envy or selfish ambition to control him, he would have been too busy competing with others instead of fulfilling God’s purpose.
So, look within. What small cracks have been forming in your heart? Do not ignore them. Fight against the silent destroyers—envy, pride, selfishness—before they bring chaos into your life.
May the God of the Bible bless you!
