The world has become more accessible, which has both benefits and drawbacks, especially for those who live a life of faith. It’s easy to get pulled in by the glitz and glamour of the world. It seems everyone else is more successful, has more money, or is happier on social media. In reality, many put on this facade but are thirsty—not for physical water but an inner thirst that isn’t captured by a camera.

“but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.” John 4:14

This is why, as a believer, you cannot envy the lives of those who seem to have mastered the physical things. Cars, houses, money, and fame can not substitute the peace of the soul. It is like the Dead Sea, which, although well-known and popular, doesn’t produce anything good—no life can survive in it, and it doesn’t give to anyone else because it has nothing to give. On the other hand, a river flows and shares its life with other bodies of water.

When Jesus lives within you, you give life to others. You do not envy those who seem to live a glamorous life because the life within you is greater. In a world filled with dead seas, be a river of living water.

May the God of the Bible bless you!
