We can learn a lot from the difference between the goat and the sheep. Both are animals with characteristics that can teach us a lot about how to be and not to be.

Characteristics of a sheep:
•Sweet
•Obedient
•Live in unity
•Accepts discipline
•Depends on the shepherd

Characteristics of a goat:
•Treacherous
•Disobedient
•Doesn’t live in peace with others
•Does not accept corrections
•Is not disciplined

Given the differences, which animal would you choose? I definitely wouldn’t choose the goat!

It is interesting to note that the sheep depends only on the shepherd. It doesn’t know it’s way back without the help of it’s shepherd. It wouldn’t even  know how to protect itself if something were to happen.

The Bible is full of great teachings, and one of these teachings we can learn from King David. He was a shepherd and wrote the well-known Psalm below:

”The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters. He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness. For His name’s sake.”(Psalm 23. 1-3)

David knew exactly the role, care, and zeal a shepherd has for the sheep. So he made God his shepherd and put himself in the position of a sheep.

Have you demanded that God be your Shepherd, but have characteristics of a goat? For example, have you found it hard to obey Him? Seek the Holy Spirit. He is the one who will change you from the inside out.

Make God your Shepherd; He will take care of you, and provide for you. His pasture is full of blessings, benefits, care, and zeal. Start by obeying His word, and you will not be in want.

May the God of the Bible bless you!
