In every relationship, there is a balance. For a healthy and fulfilling relationship, there must be a mutual give and take. If one only takes and takes, then there is no true relationship at all. However, in many cases, it becomes easier to receive than give. Like the one below:

“ Jesus answered them and said, “Most assuredly, I say to you, you seek Me, not because you saw the signs, but because you ate of the loaves and were filled. Do not labor for the food which perishes, but for the food which endures to everlasting life, which the Son of Man will give you, because God the Father has set His seal on Him.” John 6:25-26

This happened after one of the most famous instances in the Bible. Jesus multiplied the fish and bread, but afterward, the people became accustomed to receiving. They began seeking Jesus out, not to give but to receive. They wanted Him to give more but weren’t willing to give.

Are we guilty of this? This is not a condemnation but a realization. How often have we prayed and asked God to do this or that. How many times has it been me, me, and me? But have we stopped to think about what Jesus needs from us? He wants us to seek the food which endures to everlasting life. Seek Him for more than a blessing or solution. Seek Him for salvation. Let us stop and ask ourselves today not what Jesus can do for us but what we can do for Him.

May the God of the Bible bless you!
