Everyone had a childhood best friend. Do you remember yours? Perhaps it wasn’t a child your age, it may have been a pet or even a sibling. You remember the good times you had and the milestones you faced together. Maybe you are best friends until today or maybe like many, the years passed by and you’ve moved on.

Unfortunately, this is the risk many face in their relationship with God. In the beginning everything was great and new but as time has passed you have begun to think that God has forsaken you and forgotten about you.

God never forsakes us! In fact, the Bible teaches us that our relationship with God is a two way street:

“… The LORD is with you while you are with Him. If you seek Him, He will be found by you; but if you forsake Him, He will forsake you.”  II Chronicles 15:2

God never forgets about us, but there are moments when we forget about Him. When problems come you worry instead of pray like you used to. Before, your first words of the morning would be to God, but now you reach for your phone first. In these little things you have stopped being with God and they have grown into bigger things.

Maybe you have not been holding up your end of the bargain, but it isn’t too late to start again. The minute we turn to God, He hears us. He is ready to be there for you, He is just waiting for you to seek Him.

May the God of the Bible bless you,

Bishop Bira Joshua
