There is something that every human being has in common: we all have a past. When we look at our reflection in the mirror, we remember how we looked a few years ago. You may have noticed that a lot has changed, not only in your appearance, but perhaps today you consider yourself a more mature person, different from the person you were a few years ago.

Some people are ashamed of their past, and others prefer to hold onto the hurts, sorrows, resentments, and problems they had in the past. Many consider themselves Christian, but deep down inside of them, there is a desire to return to their old life. The fact is, no matter what you’ve done, the past must be left behind.

Maybe you feel far from God, even though you grew up in church. Maybe you are a faithful member of a church and even read the bible every day, but for some reason, you want to go back to the bad things you used to do before. Perhaps you are even thinking about not going to church anymore.

These feelings are a sign that your past is holding you back.

If your past is the weak point of your faith, then the first step to continuing your walk with God and having a successful life is to get away from everything that reminds you of the bad parts of your past.

“Awake, you who sleep,
Arise from the dead,
And Christ will give you light. ” Ephesians 5:14

Don’t sleep in faith. Realize that the appearance of the old life may seem good, but it’s an illusion.

Don’t give up, don’t look back! God looks at you with love, and he doesn’t judge you. He loves you and wants you to remain faithful in this transformation process.

When the Holy Spirit enters you (which He will is you seek keep seeking Him) that person you were will not define who you are.

You made it this far. Continue your walk with God until the end.

May the God of the Bible bless you,
