Do you remember your childhood days? Oh, how you wished you were older so that you could do things on your own, go where you wanted, when you wanted. You longed so much for the days when you could wake up and do whatever you wanted to do. However, now you are an adult and that is still not the case.

Today, you wake up and are completely dependent on everything and every one. You depend on a boss who decides how much you will get paid, no matter how hard you work. You depend on medication to keep an organ working or to keep pain away. You have been dependent on a drug, due to the false sense of relief that it offers you.

You have been dependent on others and things for so long that you can barely remember a time when you didn’t depend on someone else.

This week the country will celebrate another year of independence. But how about you? When have you ever been truly independent?

The word of God says, “ Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.” John 8:36

Independence is available for you, but maybe you have never experienced it. Please never forget that the word of God promises freedom. When someone is free, they don’t depend on anything, nor anyone. They are free to live in abundance, to provide, full of health, and no substance has power over them. This is the independence that God has for you. And in the Universal Church, we are ready to fight for you until you receive it.

May the God of the Bible bless you,

Bishop Joshua Fonseca
