In life we have certain expectations. When we go to a hair salon, we expect to get our hair cared for. After paying a bill, we expect that service to continue. When we walk into a grocery store we expect to find groceries. But what happens when life throws us curveballs? Imagine walking into a hair salon and walking out with groceries? Or paying your electricity bill and then having your lights cut off for a month? For sure, the reaction would be one of confusion and even revolt.

We can’t avoid the unexpected but our reaction to the problems can determine our outcome. When we’re first beginning in our relationship with God, the last thing we expect is to face a problem. In fact, it’s quite the opposite, we expect things to get better, to be a “bed of roses” but that is often far from reality.

“We are hard-pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed.” 2 Corinthians 4:8-9

Warning! You will face problems in your journey of faith.

Now that you’ve been warned, you can prepare your reaction. Perhaps you have faced problems in the past but they were the problems that the world created; addiction, depression, insomnia and so on. Well, your problems of today may look a bit different. They may be family members who turn against you because of your faith. Being persecuted, wrongly accused, despised. However, remember that the Lord Jesus rescued you from the problems of this world and will not leave you to now fend for yourself.

If there’s one thing that you can expect, as long as you stick with God, you will always overcome.

May the God of the Bible bless you!
