Imagine if you received a family heirloom like an expensive diamond necklace that once belonged to a great grandparent. And when you received it you were told to never lose it and never sell it, because it was very precious. I have no doubt that you would value that thing and guard it with your life.

You would guard it because it is so special. It is a treasure. It’s something irreplaceable. The value would go much deeper than even the cost… it’s what it meant to you that would be so important.

Now, picture being God’s special treasure. How do you think He will treat you? If we humans treat our valuable possessions with so much care and dedication, try to imagine how much more God will care and protect you as His special treasure.

If it were up to God, every human would be His special treasure, but the truth is that it does not depend on Him.

God wants to protect you, care for you and give you the very best in life. But He says that we must,

“Obey My voice and keep My covenant…”

(Exodus 19:5)

Then if you obey, He says,

“…you shall be a special treasure to Me above all people; for all the earth is Mine.”

(Exodus 19:5)

To become God’s special treasure requires obedience to Him. A person can not live their life anyhow and expect to be valued by God above everything and everyone. We all need to obey Him and please Him. Even when that means displeasing ourselves.

With God it’s that simple… treat Him as your treasure, and He’ll treat you as His treasure. Obey and be blessed, disobey and things will not go well with you. Not because God hates you or wants to hurt you. But simply because you didn’t value Him.

God sees value in obedience. And it makes Him want to bless the one who obeys. So set your will aside and seek to please Him. It will be worth it when He makes you His special treasure.

May the God of the Bible bless you
