Would you walk into a house that’s on fire? Of course not! The heat from the flames alone will deter you from wanting to get close. On top of that, the flames will alarm you of immediate danger. There are some things that, even from a distance, we know are dangerous to us.
This is how we must be in the face of evil. We have to be dangerous to the evil that tries to attack us. Many evils are sent to disturb, destroy, and even cause you to feel as though you are the problem. Have you ever experienced this? Hearing things, seeing things that aren’t there, or even experiencing realistic nightmares? When a person goes through these things, they may feel as though they are losing their mind. Do not be alarmed; you are not the problem, and there is a way to combat this evil.
“Resist the devil and he will flee from you.” James 4:7
Do not give in to the lies of the devil, nor give in to his traps and persuasions. Show him that you are stronger because you are in the Lord. He will continue to try, but if you put your life in God’s hands, you become like fire, and he will have no choice but to run away from you.
